Bypassing politics and fingerpointing, this forward-thinking documentary zeroes in on enterprising individuals — from a wind farmer to a solar-panel retrofitter — who are devising business-minded ways to avert the looming climate crisis. The cross-country expedition yields encounters with Virgin Group CEO Richard Branson, Earth Day founder Denis Hayes and former CIA director James Woolsey, along with everyday pioneers in low-carbon living. Refreshments provided, 7pm, 256-5284.

Sensei Eugene Imai to lead Monthly Sampai this Sunday July 7

Greetings friends,

Special guest Sensei Eugene Imai will be joining us as he generally does once a year to lead our monthly sampai for July 2013.  Because of this we are holding the sampai on the first weekend, this coming Sunday July 7, rather than the usual second weekend of the month.  Most months we now show a short ‘Shumei News’ video that is also shown at the monthly Sampai at our headquarters Misono in Japan each month.  We will begin this (typically about 10 minutes or less) video each month starting at 10:30 AM.  For people who would like to see this video news, you will want to be seated in the sanctuary by this time.

We begin the sampai introduction at 10:40 with the formal sampai ceremony beginning at precisely 11:00 AM.  At that time Sensei Eugene Imai will lead us in chanting the Amatsunorito and Zengensanji after which he will share the healing light of Jyorei with all those present.  Following Jyorei Sensei Eugene Imai will share a presentation about Shumei’s activities and the teachings of our founder Meishusama.  After the sampai a healthy buffet luncheon with Natural Agriculture, local and organic ingredients will be served. The luncheon is by donation.  We look forward to Eugene Sensei’s annual visit and hope many of you can join us this Sunday.

Brilliant Crestone blessings,

Matthew
